- I had originally posted under the title True 256 grey levels on VGA and
- realized overnite that was not an accurate description.
- My situation described.
- I want to display 8 bit (256 grey level) monochrome images on a monochrome
- VGA monitor using currently available (and reasonably inexpensive) 24 bit
- video cards (Hercules, Orchid, etc.). I think that this should be possible
- by loading 1 of the 3 color channels (RGB) with an image. I guess the basic
- question I have concerns the availability of software subroutines from the
- board manufacturers or others that will allow me to develop MS C program to
- allow me to load individual banks of video ram with pictures. My contact
- with the manufacturers has been less than reassuring on this topic. I
- understand that there is a TI standard called TIGA with available routines
- that "should" allow me to do what I am attempting.
- Any info will be appreciated
- Thanks,
