- I have compiled the 'ntalk' package from the InterWorks library,
- and it basically doesn't work (we are running 8.07 with ANSI C
- as the default).
-
- 1) it leaves behind a 'ntalkd' for each attempted talk sessions
- that is stuck in "kernel" code according to xbd. These processes
- must be killed manually.
-
- 2) it doesn't work for local connections from one HP user to another.
-
- 3) it won't accept talk requests to/from our Domain systems.
-
- The weird thing about this is that it did work when I first installed
- and tested it!
-
- /etc/services has the following:
-
- talk 517/udp # conversation
- ntalk 518/udp # new talk, conversation
-
- and /etc/inetd.conf has
-
- ntalk dgram udp wait root /usr/local/etc/ntalkd ntalkd
-
- Any clues?
