- I would like to know what exactly the effects of mounting a file system
- on a non-empty directory. For example:
-
- I have a directory /diska with the contents of
-
- total 8
- -rw-r----- 1 root sys 73 Jul 29 11:12 file1
- -rw-r----- 1 root sys 81 Jul 29 11:12 file2
- -rw-r----- 1 root sys 1829 Jul 29 11:12 file3
-
- Then I want to place an entry in /etc/checklist to have a filesystem
- mount a /diska. I know that the above files will disappear and the
- new mounted filesystem will take their place. But, does this have
- any side effects? Such as can it corrupt either file system? Can it cause
- a system panic?
