  25. I believe this is a carryover from the days of yesteryear.  hpterm has
  26. built-in support for various older model HP terminals, of which one was
  27. the HP2627A.  The 2627A was the first to support color and only had those
  28. eight "colors" selected by escape sequences:

  30.      ESC&v0S    =    black (or no color, turn off color)
  31.      ESC&v1S    =    red
  32.      ESC&v2S    =    green
  33.      ESC&v3S    =    yellow
  34.      ESC&v4S    =    blue
