- This morning I had my horror trip. After switching on my PC the system did
- some chkdsk all by itself (no instruction in config.sys included), and then
- halted with the content of some registers and the instruction to call IBM.
-
- I did now chkdsk /f3, after booting from a:. Some error of swapper.dat were
- reported and corrected. I then booted again from c:, and now the system did
- again some chkdsk but this time went through to the desktop view.
-
- Anybody has seen this happening to him/her? It strikes me that the day before
- I had installed the icons from hobbes and in this process I had several system
- lock ups which could be mended by booting. I also remember having read
- somewhere that too many icons in one file can hurt the system. Any comment
- here?
