Hi,
This is for the UNIX gurus. I am trying to set up a connection between 2 v.32bis modems on Sun sparc stations (one is a MultiModem MT1432, the other a Practical Peripheral 14400FXSA). The PP is always used as dial-in, the MM as dial-out.
So far we have been able to make both talk at 9600 but only by turning error correction off at the originating modem, and even so the setup is flaky (PP picks up the phone very late (sometimes not at all, or just as the originator hangs up) even though S0 is set to 1 ring). And when I use tip hardwire on the PP and ask it to display its settings, only half a screen is shown.
Part of the problem (and certainly the failure at error correction/compression) is that both modems are set for hardware flow control, whereas I assume the UNIX boxes are set for software control (Xon/Xoff). But I have no idea how I can change the UNIX setup to hardware control.
