  21. HYTELNET version 6.2, the utility which gives an IBM-PC user
  22. instant-access to all Internet-accessible library catalogs, FREE-NETS,
  23. CWISs, BBSs, Gophers, WAIS, etc. is now available. You can get it via
  24. anonymous ftp from:

  28. in the pub/hytelnet/pc subdirectory. It is listed as HYTELN62.ZIP.

  30. Version 6.2 is a major upgrade. Much redundant information has been
  31. deleted, and errors have been corrected. New subdirectories have been
  32. added, which has meant that many files now have a more meaningful home.
  33. Also all the new/updated files created since Version 6.1 have been
  34. incorporated.

  36. Note: the UNZIPPED files total over 600,000 bytes...but remember, you
  37. can always edit out any information you do not need, in order to save
  38. space.

  40. Information from Roy Tennant follows, slightly edited, describing how to
  41. obtain HYTELNET 6.2 from the ftp site (thanks Roy)::

  43. TO RETRIEVE HYTELNET:
  44. At your system prompt, enter:               ftp access.usask.ca
  45.       or                                    ftp 128.233.3.1
  46. When you receive the Name prompt, enter:    anonymous
  47. When you receive the password prompt, enter your Internet address.
  48. When you are at the ftp> prompt, enter:     binary
  49. At the next ftp> prompt, enter:             cd pub/hytelnet/pc
  50. Then enter:                                 get hyteln62.zip
  51. After the transfer has occurred, either
  52.    proceed with the instructions below to
  53.    retrieve the UNZIP utility (which you
  54.    need unless you already have it) or enter:   quit
  55.  
  56. The Hytelnet program is archived using a ZIP utility.  To unarchive it,
  57. you must be able to "unzip" the file.  If you have the file PKUNZIP.EXE,
  58. it will unarchive the HYTELN62.ZIP file (see below for instructions). If
  59. you do not have it, you may retrieve it with by following these
  60. instructions:

  62. TO RETRIEVE PKUNZIP:
  63. Use the above instructions for connecting to access.usask.ca
  64. At the ftp> prompt, enter:                   binary
  65. Then enter:                                  cd pub/hytelnet/pc
  66. Then enter:                                  get pkunzip.exe
  67. After the transfer has occurred, enter:      quit

  69. TO DOWNLOAD IT TO YOUR PC:
  70. Because of the plethora of PC communications programs, I will not
  71. attempt to give step-by-step instructions here.  You should check the
  72. instructions for your software for downloading a *binary* file from your
  73. Internet account to your PC.

  75. TO UNARCHIVE HYTELN62.ZIP:
  76. Make a new directory on your hard disk (e.g., mkdir hytelnet)
  77. Copy PKUNZIP.EXE and HYTELN62.ZIP into the new directory
  78. Make sure you are in that directory, then enter: pkunzip HYTELN62
  79. It will then unarchive HYTELN62.ZIP, which contains the following files:

  82.                              READNOW.!!!

  84. The file READNOW.!!! gives full instructions for un-archiving
  85. HYTELNET.ZIP. Simply put, you **MUST** unZIP the file with the -d
  86. parameter so that all the subdirectories will be recursed.

  88. To use HYTELNET, you should refer to the instructions in the release
  89. announcement by Peter Scott, or to the README file included with the
  90. package.

  93. who are unfamiliar with the steps required to download and use files
  94. from network sources.  I cannot be responsible for any local variations
  95. in these procedures which may exist.  Please contact your local computer
  96. support staff if you have difficulty performing these tasks.
