  12. TOKYO, Japan,  July 8, 1992 Synopsys Inc. (Mountain View, California
  13. U.S.A.) today announced the appointment of Yu Hirano, formerly general
  14. manager of the Electronic Devices Marketing and Sales Group at Fujitsu
  15. Ltd., as president of its Japanese subsidiary, Nihon Synopsys Co. Ltd.

  17. Mr. Hirano will direct the Japanese operations for Synopsys Inc.'s entire
  18. line of high-level design automation software and services.  He reports
  19. to Alain J-P. Labat, Synopsys Inc. vice president of international
  20. operations.

  22. "We're extremely pleased with Hirano-san joining our new Japanese
  23. operation," said Mr. Labat.  "We are fortunate to have such a senior
  24. executive on the team.  We believe our customers, as well as our Japanese
  25. operations, will benefit from his 30 years of experience in electronic
  26. product development, support, marketing and sales."  Mr. Hirano has
  27. been with Fujitsu since 1962.  Prior to his most recent position
  28. in the Electronic Devices marketing and sales group, Mr. Hirano was
  29. deputy general manager for the overseas technical support division of
  30. Electronic Devices, and previously manager of the overseas marketing
  31. support department for standard ICs in the Tokyo office.  He has also
  32. held various management and engineering positions in applications, test,
  33. design automation, and packaging.  He holds a B.Sc. degree in applied
  34. physics from Waseda University.

  37. (HLDA) software for designers of integrated circuits and electronic
