  19. When I first installed EMS in my 286, everything worked swimmingly
  20. _except_ when I had to exit from NB; on those occasions, the system
  21. would lock up hard, requiring a hardware reset. I was using 4dos
  22. and swapping to EMS, and I determined that NB overwrote my EMS page
  23. frame. This didn't cause any problem within NB itself, but when I
  24. would exit NB, 4dos would be unable to unswap itself from the area NB
  25. had trashed. Moving my page frame up from the c000 segment to c400
  26. cured the problem.

  28. At my request (well, more like insistence), Dragonfly reviewed their
  29. code and insisted that they weren't writing to any addresses they
  30. shouldn't be. I think they are mistaken and that the symptoms speak 
  31. for themselves.

  33. I have nothing to suggest beyond steering clear of various upper
  34. memory addresses and seeing if it helps. I harbor a hope that
  35. NB 4 will have fixed the problem; Dragonfly doesn't know that it
  36. _is_ their problem, but the rewriting that underlies version 4 might
  37. have some beneficial side effects. Of course, my first hope is that
  38. there _will_ be a NB 4 (it's the end of the month - we're allowed to
  39. fuss :-) ).
