- some comments on Eric Wignal's reply..
-
- you suggested that the ed tech will move the teacher off-center... the
- teacher will not be the center/holder/dispenser of knowledge.... well on the
- other hand.... isn't the design team/programmer then the center.. we
- refer to environment where the teacher is the center... well with ed tech
- we have move the center to those behind the program.... and may I add
- the ideology which drives "them"
-
- You also call for the "teacher as a manager".. well we all heard that
- back in the late 50's and into the 60's with programmed instruction (found
- in a wide number of forms).... I don't want a teacher as a manager..
- I want one who can create, lead, and "think" and have the courage to
- take action.
-
- I agree with you when you sat "ed tech does nopt solve anyhting" your
- right, people do.. but also peole define what the problems are and how
- they are to be fixed... our own history in education is full of
- examples of how "experts" have identified problems and the most
- "efficient" method for solving them.... maybe we never identify the
- right problem...
-
- I'm not sure what you mean when you say "ed tech changes everything"..
- in most cases I think the change is on a symbolic level and nothing
- really changes.. take Channel One (please someone take it away)
- for example....
