  11.    All the 'theoretical' talk about magick recently (in the 'Possible
  12.  to obtain magic powers' thread) has got me thinking about the role of
  13.  ritual and ceremony in the magical life.

  15.    Ritual is a very interesting and powerful art form, but it isn't
  16.  everything.  Also important, as I think Tagi recently mentioned, is the
  17.  'art' of living everyday life in a magical and spiritual fashion -- in
  18.  the real world 'out there.'

  20.    Both ways of 'doing magick' have their strong and weak points, although
  21.  in many traditions as one advances in skill/atunement/whatever, the need
  22.  for isolated rituals and 'spells' decreases as one becomes more 'at one'
  23.  with oneself and/or the world.  This weaning off isolated ritual, however,
  24.  may contain dangers.  Could it lead to the living of life in a constant
  25.  otherworldly 'haze?'  Is this desirable?  Well, I may just leave those
  26.  questions unanswered (for myself at least) till I get to that point.

  28.    I've been doing a lot of study of the Golden Dawn system of magic(k?),
  29.  and I'm starting to visualize the dichotomy between ritual and the 'every-
  30.  day' in terms of the Kaballah.  The 10 sephiroth can represent rituals
  31.  (the grade ceremonies for the GD), and the 22 *paths* seem to be able to 
  32.  represent the *application* of what is learned/revealed in the rituals to
  33.  ones own 'living practice.'  Neat.

  39.  PS - I also have been working on the idea of 'solitary' versions of
  40.       the G.D. grade rituals.  Not just doing the 'official' ceremonies
  41.       in the 'astral', but actually altering their structure to support
  42.       only one 'celebrant.'  If anyone is interested, I could post or
  43.       email the first draft of my solitary 0=0 ritual.
