  12. After modifying the OS/2 Warp 4 installation diskettes to add support 
  13. for an NCR SCSI controller, drive letters are incorrectly assigned 
  14. during startup on the installation diskettes. This causes the 
  15. installation program to look for a nonexistent or incorrect drive, and 
  16. an error message "the device is not ready." The CD-ROM is assigned an 
  17. incorrect drive letter.

  20. RESOLUTION

  22. Use a text editor, such as TEDIT shipped with OS/2, to edit the 
  23. CONFIG.SYS file on the modified OS/2 Installation Diskette 1; check for 
  24. and remove any duplicate lines. Duplicate BASEDEV=OS2DASD.DMD 
  25. statements cause this error.
