  11. DESCRIPTION

  14. Installation of OS/2 Warp Connect networking components onto a                     
  15. preloaded ThinkPad typically ends with an error SYS3175. 
  16.  
  17. RESOLUTION
  18.  
  19. After receiving the SYS3175, you must shut down and restart your system.
  20. Unless you have archived the preloaded Desktop, the only available 
  21. choice is to return to the OS/2 Warp archive that does not have any of 
  22. the ThinkPad add-ons (Diskette Factory, Mwave, and other ThinkPad 
  23. exploitive drivers). This is the archive that is available in the 
  24. default location of X:\OS2\ARCHIVES (where X: is the drive that has 
  25. OS/2 installed).

  27. To recover to the unit's original state, perform the following steps IF
  28. the system has NOT been reformatted.                    
  29.                                                                              
  30. 1. Shut down and restart the system. Press Alt+F1 to get to the
  31.    recovery choices. If you have archived the preloaded Desktop, select
  32.    this archive and you're done. If you have not archived the preload,
  33.    the only option is to recover to the base OS/2 installation archive.

  35. 2. When restarted, the system comes to a Desktop that has none of the 
  36.    ThinkPad add-ons (Mwave, Diskette Factory, etc.).

  38. 3. Click with the right mouse button on the Desktop to bring up the menu
  39.    and select Settings to open the Settings notebook. Select the
  40.    Archives tab. In the Archive locations window, it will have
  41.    C:\OS2\ARCHIVES (the default). Change this to C:\AR and close the
  42.    Settings notebook.

  44. 4. Shut down and restart the system. When restarting, press Alt+F1 for
  45.    the recovery choices and select the Available archive.

  47. 5) This returns you to the original, preloaded software with all of the
  48.    ThinkPad add-ons, as it came from the factory.

  50. Note: In the normal OS/2 Warp Connect directory structure, the X:\AR
  51.       subdirectory does not exist. This directory is unique to the
  52.       preloaded software.
