Adapters Based on the S3 Chip 4/18/94
S3 BASED VIDEO BOARDS THAT ARE NOT SUPPORTED IN SVGA MODE
Not all S3 base video boards are supported by IBM's SVGA
drivers. Adapters that have an a S3 911 , 924 or 805i chip
are NOT supported by the following S3 drivers:
S3-256 dated 8/4/93
S3-256K date 9/23/93
S3-16m date 11/04/94
S3 drivers in XR06200
The following is a list of known S3 based video boards that
are NOT supported.
-STB Wind/X
-Diamond Stealth VRAM
-Orchid Fahrenheit 1280 NOTE:** The Orchid Fahrenheit 1280
PLUS is supported
Known Problem:
DOS sessions may shrink to 1/3 original size.
Work around:
Edit the config.sys file to reflect the following change
SET VIO_VGA=DEVICE(BVHVGA, BVHSVGA)
DEVICE=x:\OS2\MDOS\VSVGA.SYS where x is your OS/2 system
drive letter.
to
SET VIO_VGA=DEVICE(BVHVGA)
DEVICE=x:\OS2\MDOS\VVGA.SYS where x is your OS/2 system
drive letter.
HINTS:
If a customer would like SVGA support for a STB video adapter
have them contact STB. STB Corporation developed their own OS/2
SVGA drivers for S3 .Diamond Corporation has done the same for
the Diamond Stealth VRAM board. S3 corporation has also
developed OS/2 SVGA drivers for the 911 and 924 chips.
