  35.   titled 'Submission', 'The Passive', or 'The Earth'.  Composed entirely of
  36.   divided lines, this mother of the hexagrams implies willingness and subser-
  37.   vience.  Its image is that of the level fields of the Earth stretching end-
  38.   lessly to the horizons.  The maleable nature of K'un is also evident in its
  39.   astral structure.  Here, all of the planets are amassed in the dark, inactive
  40.   hemisphere.  This absence of light reinforces the concept of inert substance,
  41.   willing and open, but unlikely to lead others.  K'un demands total devotion
  42.   and openness to outside influences.
