  1. Once this driver is installed do not remove the disk from the drive
  2. until you Exit Windows !
  3.  
  4. To get a print-out of these instructions, select File above and select
  5. Print. (This will print using the current driver, as this driver is not
  6.         yet installed !)
  7.  
  8. The default Fujitsu 24 pin printer that is selected by this driver is
  9. the Fujitsu DL1100 Colour (at 360 by 360 dots per inch resolution).
  10.  
  11. If you have a DL1100, select File above and Exit these instructions.
  12. Then select Install.
  13.  
  14. If you have any other DL-series printer, you will want to
  15. tell this driver, once installed, which model you have. In this way 
  16. windows will know which fonts and resolution your printer supports.
  17.  
  18. To do this :-
  19.  
  20. 1)  DO NOT REMOVE THE DISK JUST YET (OTHERWISE YOU MIGHT GET A SYSTEM ERROR)
  21. 2)  Select File above, and Exit these instructions
  22. 2)  Select Printers from the control panel window presented
  23. 3)  Make sure that the Fujitsu 24pin Printer driver is highlighted and
  24.     Active, and Select the Configure box
  25. 4)  Select the Port you have your printer connected to, and then Select
  26.     the Setup Box
  27. 5)  The Dialog Box that opens shows the model of printer in the title bar.
  28.     Select the Options box down on the right hand side
  29. 6)  The Printers box now shows the currently selected printer. Select
  30.     this box and scroll till you find your model
  31.     (Note: If your model does not appear then it may be too new for this
  32.     version of the driver. Please check with your dealer on current driver
  33.     status. To get going for now try the DL4600 printer as all Fujitsu
  34.     printers are very compatable to each other.)
  35. 7)  Also select the Feeder and Fonts boxes if you have installed some of
  36.     these on your printer. All fonts that are already in your printer are
  37.     known to this driver, so do not use the Fonts box unless you have
  38.     installed a font card into your printer.
  39. 8)  Select OK to move back to the first Printer Dialog Box
  40. 9)  Now the Title Bar should read your model number. If you bought a
  41.     colour version of your printer, or have added a colour kit, Select
  42.     the Ribbon Box and choose colour. If the Ribbon box is grey and you
  43.     can not select it, then you have not selected the correct printer
  44.     in step 12, or, your printer is not able to print colour.
  45. 10) The last main option you will have to decide is the resolution you
  46.     want to use. The higher the resolution the better the text and
  47.     graphics look, but also the printing time slows down. Choose for
  48.     yourself, low resolution = fast printing, high resolution for better
  49.     printing but = slower printing. Do'nt worry too much, as you can
  50.     always come back to this Dialog box later and change it again.
  51. 11) Select OK and your done. Select OK again and your out of the printers
  52.     section on the Control Panel.
  53. 12) Close the Control Panel Box and your back to windows again.
  54. 13) Now you can remove this driver disk from the drive.

  56.  Note: most windows fonts are bit image fonts designed at VGA screen
  57. resolution (about 75 dots per inch). Selecting 360 by 360 dots per inch
  58. in the printer driver therefore, may not always improve the look of all
  59. Fonts printing from Windows. However, you may be in luck if you want
  60. great quality print ! Contact your dealer and ask him about Fujitsu's
  61. Creative Faces. This is a Fonts driver for Windows which gives you
  62. Postscript metrics Fonts at just about any point size, in whataever
  63. resolution you choose in your printer driver. Creative Faces works with
  64. all Windows Applications which print with the Windows Fonts, and works 
  65. with any printer which has a driver for Windows.
