  2. You should now be in a directory called "Temp" on your hard 
  3. disk / disks partitions.
  4.  
  5. This directory contains a printer driver for MicroSoft's Windows 
  6. 3.0 for the complete range of Fujitsu's 24 pin printers. Please 
  7. find in this directory these files :-
  8.  
  9.  README.1ST       This file you are reading
  10.  FUJDLSER.DRV     The printer driver itself
  11.  FUJDLSER.HLP     The Help file used when you call up help within Windows
  12.  INSTALL.EXE      The Windows program you run to install the driver
  13.  INSTALL.LGO      The Fujitsu Logo that appears during the install program
  14.  INSTALL.INF      Information file used by the install program
  15.            Do not attempt to modify the .INF files unless you 
  16.            know exactly what you are doing.
  17.  README.ENG       The info you read if you want info during the install and
  18.                    have selected English.

  20.  To Install this Fujitsu 24 pin printers driver into Windows 3.0.
  21.  
  22. 1)  Run Windows   (ie:   c:\>win   [return]).
  23. 2)  Select the FILE drop down menu at the top left hand corner of the 
  24.     windows Program Manager screen.
  25. 3)  Select the RUN option.
  26. 4)  In the box provided type the path and install where this driver resides.
  27.     ie: if the driver is on drive C: type :-                                                          
  28.          C:\TEMP\INSTALL  [RETURN]
  29.     or if the driver is on drive D: type :-
  30.          D:\TEMP\INSTALL  [RETURN]
  31. Note; If you created and expanded the DLSERIES driver in a directory 
  32. other than "TEMP" substitute that name for "TEMP" in the above examples.
  33. 5)  Once installed you should also make sure that the driver is set for
  34.     your model of printer, presence of sheet feeders and font cards      
  35.     installed. To do this :-             
  36. 6)  Select Printers from the control panel window presented.
  37. 7)  Make sure that the Fujitsu 24pin Printer driver is highlighted and
  38.     Active, and Select the Configure box.
  39. 8) Select the Port you have your printer connected to, and then Select
  40.     the Setup Box.
  41. 9) The Dialog Box that opens shows the model of printer in the title bar,
  42.     Select the Options box down on the right hand side.
  43. 10) The Printers box now shows the currently selected printer. Select
  44.     this box and scroll till you find your model. 
  45.     (Note: If your model does not appear then it may be too new for this    
  46.     version of the driver. Please check with your dealer on current driver
  47.     status. To get going for now try the DL4600 printer as all Fujitsu
  48.     printers are very compatible to each other.)
  49. 11) Also select the Feeder and Fonts boxes if you have installed some of 
  50.     these on your printer. All fonts that are already in your printer are
  51.     known to this driver, so do not use the Fonts box unless you have
  52.     installed a font card into your printer. 
  53. 12) Select OK to move back to the first Printer Dialog Box.
  54. 13) Now the Title Bar should read your model number. If you bought a   
  55.     colour version of your printer, or have added a colour kit, Select
  56.     the Ribbon Box and choose colour. If the Ribbon box is grey and you
  57.     can not select it, then you have not selected the correct printer
  58.     in step 12, or, your printer is not able to print colour.
  59. 14) The last main option you will have to decide is the resolution you
  60.     want to use. The higher the resolution the better the text and
  61.     graphics look, but also the printing time slows down. Choose for 
  62.     yourself, low resolution = fast printing, high resolution for better
  63.     printing but = slower printing. Don't worry too much, as you can 
  64.     always come back to this Dialog box later and change it again.
  65. 15) Select OK and your done. Select OK again and your out of the printers 
  66.     section on the Control Panel.
  67. 16) Close the Control Panel Box and you back to windows again.
  68. 17) Now you can delete all the files in your temp directory.

  70.  Note: most windows fonts are bit image fonts designed at VGA screen 
  71. resolution (about 75 dots per inch). Selecting 360 by 360 dots per inch
  72. in the printer driver therefore, may not always improve the look of all
  73. Fonts printing from Windows. However, you may be in luck if you want 
  74. great quality print ! Contact your dealer and ask him about Fujitsu's
  75. Creative Faces. This is a Fonts driver for Windows which gives you    
  76. Postscript metrics Fonts at just about any point size, in whatever
  77. resolution you choose in your printer driver. Creative Faces works with
  78. all Windows Applications who print with the Windows Fonts and works with
  79. any printer which has a driver for Windows.
