DATER V. 1.1ß
By John Paul Jones
(C) 1993 JPJ Productions, Inc.
Disclamimer -
DATER.EXE has been tested thoroughly on several
classes of machines, and has worked on every model tested. If
DATER causes problems on your machine, it is NOT the fault of
the author. If you do have problems, however, give my BBS a call.
This is a Beta release, so any bugs you come across
would be HIGHLY beneficial... please contact me through my
BBS.
Purpose -
DATER takes a file, or a list of files, and gets the
date and time from them, and returns an ASCII file for your use.
This can be useful to Sysops who like to show the last time a
door score-file was updated to the user.
Set-Up -
Dater should include the following files:
DATER.EXE The actual program
DATER.DOC This documentation
CONFIG.EXE The configuration program
FILE_ID.DIZ The Description file
You may re-archive the program using any archiver, but you
MUST include all of the above files.
Setting up dater is very simple. Just run the CONFIG
program, and enter the correct data. If DATER is NOT registered,
enter a string of zeros for the registration codes. Length
doesn't matter.
CONFIG will create a file called DATER.DAT. DATER.DAT
is nothing but a straight ASCII file. When you register, you
don't have to re-run CONFIG.EXE, all you have to do it edit
the correct lines of the DATER.DAT file. A Key is included
in the file.
Implementation -
DATER has two forms in which it can be run.
It can take a single file that you give it on the command-line
and date that, or, with a switch, it can do the entire directory.
Ex.
For a single file: DATER COMMAND.COM COMM.TXT
The above would tell DATER to get the date/time from COMMAND.COM
and return it in the file COMM.TXT.
For an entire directory: DATER /M DIR.TXT
This will tell dater to date/time the entire directory, and
return the results to DIR.TXT.
DATER cannot use wildcards, yet. Look for the next version to
include this.
ShareWare Notice -
DATER is shareware. It is not free. You may use it as long as
you like, but it will pause 5 seconds at the start and end of
its' run. When you register it, it will say your name at the start
and will not pause. Registration is $5-$10, payable in check, or
money order.

Support -
DATER is supported through my BBS, and any/all questions
should be asked there. I can, with a small price, customize
the ASCII text file that DATER produces, or any other part of the
program. Inquire with a message to the SysOp.
