<h6> If you can dial out but can't make a proper connection... </h6>

<li>If you're calling from home, make sure you've changed the location on the <B>Dialing</B> tab to reflect this. By default, the <B>Work</B> setting is selected, and the modem is configured to dial 9 before dialing the number.
<li>If you're connecting to a local host computer or online service, make sure the HPC isn't dialing the country/area code along with the telephone number. Examine session properties and clear the <B>Use country code and area code</B> check box.
<li>Make sure your local country code and area code are entered correctly. You can enter this information on the <B>Communications</B> tab when configuring a dial-up connection or session.
