If you can dial out but can't make a proper connection...
- If you're calling from home, make sure you've changed the location on the Dialing tab to reflect this. By default, the Work setting is selected, and the modem is configured to dial 9 before dialing the number.
- If you're connecting to a local host computer or online service, make sure the HPC isn't dialing the country/area code along with the telephone number. Examine session properties and clear the Use country code and area code check box.
- Make sure your local country code and area code are entered correctly. You can enter this information on the Communications tab when configuring a dial-up connection or session.
