  2. NOVELL GROUPWISE 4.1A                              UPDATE PATCH 2

  5. This patch is intended for Novell GroupWise 4.1a for Windows that
  6. has already had Update Patch #1 applied to it. This patch cannot
  7. be used with any other version of GroupWise.  This patch addresses
  8. issues with running under Windows 95 and some commonly reported
  9. problems.

  13. Instructions
  14. --------------------------------

  16. The patch consists of the following files:
  17.      
  18.   GWUSC2.TXT (this file)
  19.   GWPAT2.EXE
  20.  
  21. Copy these files to a workstation or network directory. You will
  22. need at least 15M of free space on the drive for use as workspace
  23. for the patch utilities.  It will be freed when the patch is 
  24. complete.
  25.  
  26. You will need network WRITE and DELETE access rights to the 
  27. directory containing the primary domain to be patched.
  28.  
  29. You should backup the domain to be updated before applying the
  30. patch.  If the patch is interrupted you will then be able to 
  31. restore the domain from the backup and start again.  If you 
  32. don't backup the domain you may have to reinstall the original
  33. 4.1a version and re-apply patch #1 before attempting to apply
  34. patch #2.

  36. The patch process may take from 15 to 30 minutes depending on the
  37. speed of your machine, the speed of your disk and the speed of
  38. your network.

  41. To apply the patch:
  42.  
  43.      1    Set your current working directory to the directory
  44.           containing the patch files listed above.
  45.  
  46.      2    At the DOS prompt type:
  47.     
  48.           GWPAT2
  49.  
  50.           This file is a self extracting EXE that extracts the
  51.           following files:
  52.  
  53.             PATCH.EXE
  54.             SPAN.EXE
  55.             SPANX.EXE
  56.             SQP.EXE
  57.             KDEL.EXE
  58.             FIXDATE2.EXE
  59.             DOPATCH.BAT
  60.             DOSPNSET.BAT
  61.             OFWIN41.BAT
  62.             WNUSID41.BAT
  63.             GWUSC2.RTP
  64.             OFWIN41.RTP
  65.             WNUSID41.RTP

  68.      3    At the DOS prompt, enter the following command:
  69.  
  70.           DOPATCH primarydomain
  71.  
  72.           where primarydomain is the drive and directory of a 
  73.           primary domain.  For example, if the primary domain is
  74.           J:\HEADQ, you would enter the following command:
  75.  
  76.           DOPATCH J:\HEADQ
  77.  
  78.  
  79.      4    After applying the patch, distribute the updated
  80.           software in the normal way:
  81.  
  82.           a. Using the AD.EXE Software Management option (under
  83.              the Tools menu), copy the updated software to 
  84.              other domains and/or post offices.
  85.  
  86.           b. After copying the software to a post office, go into
  87.              Windows and run SETUPWIN /A.

  90. Troubleshooting

  93. If PATCH.EXE cannot locate the correct files to patch, the
  94. following message will be displayed:
  95.  
  96.      Warning wpt0015: Old File does not exist
  97.  
  98. This may indicate one or more of the following situations:
  99.  
  100.      *    You have previously deleted one or more files from the
  101.           original GroupWise 4.1a installation.
  102.  
  103.      *    You are attempting to patch the wrong version of
  104.           GroupWise. 
  105.  
  106. You may need to reinstall the original GroupWise 4.1a files and
  107. apply Update Patch #1 before applying this patch.
  108.  
  109. If PATCH.EXE determines that a file does not need to be patched,
  110. it will report the following message:
  111.  
  112.      New Version of File FILENAME already exists.
  113.  
  114. This may indicate that you have already applied the patch.
  115. PATCH.EXE has verified that your software is up-to-date; you do 
  116. not need to take further action.
