  14. Below is a summary of the changes to the printer drivers (H-O) in the
  15. Microsoft Windows Driver Library (WDL). The WDL offers support for
  16. many printers, displays, and sound cards not provided with Microsoft
  17. Windows operating system version 3.1.
  18.  
  19. To see WDL.TXT, which contains a complete listing of the WDL's
  20. contents and instructions for obtaining the WDL, query on "Q82006"
  21. (without the quotation marks) in the Microsoft Knowledge Base.

  31. Hewlett-Packard (HP) DeskJet Printers - (HPDJET.EXE)

  34. 10/08/92 - This file has been updated with version 3.1.2 of the
  35.            Universal Printer Driver (UNIDRV.DLL). In this UNIDRV.DLL
  36.            update, support was added for the HP LaserJet III family of
  37.            printers.

  39. 07/10/92 - HPDJET.EXE IS NEW TO THE WDL. This version (version 1.2) of
  40.            the Microsoft Windows HP DeskJet driver is an update to the
  41.            one provided in the Windows 3.1 package (version 1.0). It
  42.            corrects the problem with incorrect extended characters
  43.            printing when using font cartridges from Pacific Data
  44.            Products.

  46. Hewlett-Packard (HP) LaserJet Driver (HPPCL.EXE)
  47. ------------------------------------------------

  49. 10/08/92 - This file has been updated with version 3.1.2 of the
  50.            Universal Printer Driver (UNIDRV.DLL). In this UNIDRV.DLL
  51.            update, support was added for the HP LaserJet III family of
  52.            printers.

  54. 08/12/92 - This version (version 2.0) of the Microsoft Windows printer
  55.            driver for the Hewlett-Packard LaserJet family (and
  56.            compatibles) of printers is an update to the one provided
  57.            in the Windows 3.1 package (version 1.0). It corrects the
  58.            following problems:
  59.  
  60.             - Kyocera models. Paper sizes Ledger & A3 have been added
  61.               to the F-5000 model, and memory configuration options
  62.               added for the F-5000 model. Printer command for font
  63.               selection for Helvetica 8 point has been corrected.
  64.  
  65.             - Okidata models. OL-400 and OL-800 have been removed from
  66.               the driver. These models are covered by the OKILED.DRV
  67.               on the U.S. WDL, and by the OKILASER.DRV on the
  68.               international WDL.
  69.  
  70.             - Epson models. EPL-7000, EPL-6000, and GQ-3500 have been
  71.               removed from the driver. The EPL-7000 is covered by the
  72.               WDL driver EPLAZER.DRV. The other Epson models will be
  73.               added to the EPLAZER.DRV driver.
  74.  
  75.             - Toshiba PageLaser 12. Support for bin 3 is now included.
  76.               Envelope paper sizes have been added.
  77.  
  78.             - Panasonic KXP-4420. Memory configuration 2.5 MB is now
  79.               supported.
  80.  
  81.             - Hewlett-Packard LaserJet Series II and compatibles.
  82.               Problems with missing text or graphics when printing in
  83.               landscape orientation is corrected.
  84.  
  85.             - Font-width problems on the B cartridge have been
  86.               corrected.

  88. Hewlett-Packard LaserJet III Family Driver - (HPPCL5.EXE)
  89. ---------------------------------------------------------
  90.  
  91. 11/16/92 - This version (version 2.1) of the Microsoft Windows printer
  92.            driver for the Hewlett-Packard LaserJet III, IIID, IIIP,
  93.            and IIISi printers is an update to the one previously
  94.            provided on the WDL and is an update to the version
  95.            included in Windows for Workgroups. It corrects the
  96.            following problems:
  97.  
  98.             - When installing to upgrade over HPPCL5A.DRV, the
  99.               LaserJet III could not be installed if the IIIP, IIID,
  100.               IIISi, or IIISi PostScript drivers were already
  101.               installed.
  102.  
  103.             - A general protection (GP) fault occured when installing
  104.               any model except the LaserJet III on 286-based
  105.               computers.
  106.  
  107.             - Support for the envelope tray has been enabled for the
  108.               III and IIIP models.
  109.  
  110. 10/08/92 - HPPCL5.EXE IS NEW TO THE WDL. This version of the Microsoft
  111.            Windows printer driver for the Hewlett-Packard LaserJet
  112.            III, IIID, IIIP, and IIISI printers is an update to the one
  113.            originally included in the Windows 3.1 package. This driver
  114.            is included with Microsoft Windows for Workgroups. It
  115.            corrects the following problems:
  116.  
  117.             - Not maintaining separate driver settings for the same
  118.               printer installed on different ports. Previously, if an
  119.               HP LaserJet III (for example) was installed on both LPT1
  120.               and LPT2, changing any settings of the one installed on
  121.               LPT1 would also be applied to the one on LPT2.
  122.  
  123.             - Rotated fonts not printing in some cases.
  124.  
  125.             - Loss of data when printing multiple jobs to the same
  126.               port at the same time.
  127.  
  128.             - Loss of system resources after printing from version 2.0
  129.               of Microsoft Word for Windows.
  130.  
  131.             - Out of memory errors on printer when printing documents
  132.               that contain many TrueType fonts.

  134. Hewlett-Packard LaserJet 4/4M Driver (HPCL5E.EXE)

  137. 11/16/92 - HPCL5E.EXE is new to the WDL. This driver (version 31.1.03)
  138.            supports the Hewlett-Packard LaserJet 4/4M printers.

  140. Hewlett-Packard (HP) PaintJet Printers - (HPPJET.EXE)

  143. 10/08/92 - This file has been updated with version 3.1.2 of the
  144.            Universal Printer Driver (UNIDRV.DLL). In this UNIDRV.DLL
  145.            update, support was added for the HP LaserJet III family of
  146.            printers.

  148. 08/12/92 - THE DRIVERS HAVE NOT BEEN CHANGED. HPPJET.EXE was rezipped
  149.            to include DMCOLOR.DLL.

  151. 07/10/92 - HPPJET.EXE IS NEW TO THE WDL. This version (version 2.1) of
  152.            the Microsoft Windows 3.1 printer driver for the HP
  153.            PaintJet and PaintJet XL is an update to the one provided
  154.            in the Windows 3.1 package (version 1.0). (Note that this
  155.            version of the HP PaintJet driver requires the Microsoft
  156.            Universal Printer Driver version 3.1.1 or later.)

  158.            Version 2.1 of the HP PaintJet driver corrects the
  159.            following problems:
  160.  
  161.             - Margins on the second and subsequent pages are 0.5 inch
  162.               higher than they are on the first page when the PaintJet
  163.               XL is used.
  164.  
  165.             - When device fonts are used on the HP PaintJet, text on
  166.               the second and subsequent pages prints all on one line.

  168. Hewlett-Packard (HP) QuietJet Printers (HPQJET.EXE)

  171. 10/08/92 - This file has been updated with version 3.1.2 of the
  172.            Universal Printer Driver (UNIDRV.DLL). In this UNIDRV.DLL
  173.            update, support was added for the HP LaserJet III family of
  174.            printers.

  192. 10/08/92 - This file has been updated with version 3.1.2 of the
  193.            Universal Printer Driver (UNIDRV.DLL). In this UNIDRV.DLL
  194.            update, support was added for the HP LaserJet III family of
  195.            printers.

  200. 04/30/92 - The driver for the IBM Personal Printer II 2390/2391 will

  206. IBM 9-Pin Proprinter Printers (PROP9.EXE)

  210.            Universal Printer Driver (UNIDRV.DLL). In this UNIDRV.DLL
  211.            update, support was added for the HP LaserJet III family of

  214. 09/08/92 - This version (version 1.1) of the Microsoft Windows printer
  215.            driver for IBM 9-pin Proprinter printers is an update to
  216.            the one provided in the Windows 3.1 package (version 1.0).

  220.             - Missing sheet feeder support on all models.

  222.             - Missing manual feed on all models.

  224.             - Missing A3 paper size support on wide-carriage models.

  228. IBM 24-Pin Proprinter Driver - (PROP24.EXE)

  231. 10/20/92 - PROP24.EXE is new to the WDL. This version (version 2.15)
  232.            of the Microsoft Windows printer driver for IBM 24-pin
  233.            Proprinter printers is an update to the one previously
  234.            provided in the WDL (version 1.1) and the one provided in
  235.            the Windows 3.1 package (version 1.0). It corrects the
  236.            following problems:
  237.  
  238.             - No longer causes a general protection fault with
  239.               UNIDRV.DLL version 3.1.2.
  240.  
  241.             - For compatibility with the Windows 3.0 driver, the user
  242.               can define the printable area by choosing the Margins
  243.               button in the Options dialog box.
  244.  
  245. IBM Quickwriter 5204 Printer Driver - (IB5204.EXE)
  246. --------------------------------------------------

  248. 11/16/92 - Corrects the OEMSETUP.INF file so that it will not ask for
  249.            DMCOLOR.DLL.

  251. 10/20/92 - IB5204.EXE is new to the WDL. This version (version 1.1) of
  252.            the Microsoft Windows printer driver for IBM 5204 printer
  253.            is an update to the one provided in the Windows 3.1 package
  254.            (version 1.0). It corrects the following problems:
  255.  
  256.             - Missing sheet feeder support added
  257.  
  258.             - Fanfold 8.5-by-12-inch paper support added
  259.  
  260.             - Problems with printout stopping 8 inches across page
  261.               fixed
  262.  
  263. IBM Quietwriter III Driver - (QWIII.EXE)
  264. ----------------------------------------

  266. 11/16/92 - QWIII.EXE is NEW to the WDL. This version (version 2.1) of
  267.            the Microsoft Windows printer driver for the IBM
  268.            Quietwriter III is an update to the one included in the
  269.            Windows 3.1 package. It corrects the following problems:
  270.  
  271.             - Incorrect fonts listed on some cartridges
  272.  
  273.             - Problems with the envelope feeder
  274.  
  275. Linotronic Printers (LINO.EXE)
  276. ------------------------------
  277.  
  278. 08/12/92 - THE DRIVERS HAVE NOT BEEN CHANGED. The OEMSETUP.INF file
  279.            was modified to correct a problem. If you have successfully
  280.            installed this driver, you DO NOT NEED to download the
  281.            8/12/92 version.
  282.  
  283. 07/17/92 - PSCRIPT.DRV has been updated to version 3.53. See
  284.            PSCRIP.EXE for the changes made to version 3.53.
  285.  
  286. 06/25/92 - New file. LINO.EXE includes PSCRIPT.DRV version 3.52. The
  287.            following Linotype typesetter changes have been made in
  288.            version 3.52:
  289.  
  290.             - Support for Linotype 100, 300, and 500 now added.
  291.  
  292.             - Support for "basic 35" PostScript fonts added.
  293.  
  294.             - Problems with "Extra" paper sizes (for example, "Letter
  295.               Extra", "Legal Extra", and so on) corrected.

  439. 04/06/92 - The driver for the Okidata OL-400/OL-800 does not address
  440.            any particular problems in the driver shipped with Windows
  441.            3.1 that supports these printers. The WDL version of this
  442.            driver is considered to be more robust. It is recommended
  443.            that customers using this printer use the WDL version of
  444.            the driver.

  446. Okidata OL-820 Printer (OK830.EXE)

  449. 08/12/92 - OK830.EXE is new to the WDL. This driver also supports the
  450.            Okidata OL-830.

  452. Olivetti Printers (OLIVE.EXE)
  453. -----------------------------

  455. 11/16/92 - Support for the following printers was removed from
  456.            OLIVE.EXE. Support for these printers is now found in
  457.            JP350.EXE.

  459.             - Citizen PROjet
  460.             - Olivetti JP 150

  462. 07/10/92 - THE DRIVERS HAVE NOT BEEN CHANGED. A new license agreement

  465. Olivetti PG 306/388 Printer Driver (OLIPG.EXE)

  468. 11/16/92 - This version (version 1.0) of the Microsoft Windows printer
  469.            driver for Olivetti PG-306 and PG-308 printers is an update
  470.            to the one previously provided in Windows 3.1. This driver
  471.            now uses the Universal Printer driver (UNIDRV.DLL) and
  472.            supports the following models:
