  3.        TITLE:  DIAMOND SPEEDSTAR 24X DISPLAY ADAPTER CARD AND A 
  4.        CTX 5648NI MONITOR ARE IMPROPERLY IDENTIFIED BY OS/2 AS AN 
  5.        8514/A ADAPTER AND A SONY1302 MONITOR.

  7.        DESCRIPTION OF SYMPTOMS:

  9.        SUMMARY OF RESOLUTION:  
  10.  
  11.        Edit the config.sys and modify two of the video lines and 
  12.        run the display adapter utility 24xmode from a DOS session.  
  13.  
  14.        DETAILS OF RESOLUTION:  
  15.  
  16.        1. Bring the system down to vga using "RSPDSPI".
  17.        2. Edit the config.sys and make sure the following
  18.        lines read:  
  19.  
  20.        SET VIO_VGA=DEVICE(BVHVGA,BVHSVGA) DEVICE=C:\OS2\MDOS\VSVGA 
  21.  
  22.        3. Open an OS2 session and run "DSPINSTL" to install the 
  23.        svga drivers.  Make sure the svga chip type is properly 
  24.        identified.  DO NOT SHUTDOWN WHEN PROMPTED TO!  
  25.        4. Exit the OS2 session and open a DOS fullscreen
  26.        session.  From there you will run the display
  27.        adapter utility program "24xmode" to set the proper
  28.        refresh rates for the monitor. The higher the refresh
  29.        rate the better the performance of the monitor but do
  30.        not exceed the monitors capabilities.  
  31.        5. Run "svga on" and exit the DOS session.  
  32.        6. Shutdown and reboot the system.
