  3.        TITLE:  VIDEO GOES OUT OF SYNC OR A BLURRED STRIP APPEARS 
  4.        ACROSS THE TOP OF THE DESKTOP USING TSENG ET4000 ADAPTERS 
  5.        IN SVGA.  
  6.  
  7.        DESCRIPTION OF SYMPTOMS:  
  8.  
  9.        The display screen will loose sync or a blurred strip 
  10.        appears across the desktop.  This can happen on boot up or 
  11.        when switching between full screen sessions.  
  12.  
  13.        SUMMARY OR RESOLUTION:  
  14.  
  15.        1. Make sure the BIOS is at it latest revision and the 
  16.        batch # on the chipset is TC6059AF or higher.  Then run the 
  17.        display adapter utility that come w/ the adapter card to 
  18.        set the proper refresh rates for your monitor.  Next, 
  19.        regenerate the svgadata.pmi file.  
  20.  
  21.        DETAILS OF RESOLUTION:  1. Make sure the batch # on the 
  22.        chipset is TC6059AF or higher and make sure the BIOS is at 
  23.        its latest revision as well(Diamond's should be at least 
  24.        4.23).  
  25.        2. Use "RSPDSPI" to set video mode back to vga.This 
  26.        step is not always necessary but if the desktop is not 
  27.        useable it must be done.  If the desktop can be used go to 
  28.        step 6. 
  29.        3. Open a DOS full screen session and run "svga on". 
  30.        4. Then exit.
  31.        5. Open an OS2 full screen session and run "DSPINSTL"
  32.        to install the svga drivers.  DO NOT SHUT DOWN WHEN
  33.        PROMPTED!  
  34.        6. Open a DOS full screen session and run the display
  35.        adapter utility that came w/ the display adapter
  36.        card.  Diamond's utility is called "vmode".  With 
  37.        this utility you will set the refresh rates for your 
  38.        monitor.  The higher you set the refresh the better the 
  39.        performance of your monitor but do not exceed the 
  40.        limitations of the monitor(See the specifications). 
  41.        7. Regenerate the svgadata.pmi file by running "svga
  42.        on".
  43.        8. Exit DOS fullscreen.  
  44.        9. Shutdown and reboot the system.
  45.  
  46.        NOTE:  For OS2 FOR WINDOWS use SELECTIVE INSTALL instead of 
  47.        DSPINSTL in step 5. 
  48.
