  24. Description of Working Group:
  25.  
  26. The User Services Working Group of the IETF provides a regular forum
  27. for people interested in all levels of user services to identify and
  28. initiate projects designed to improve the quality of information
  29. available to users of the Internet.  Actual projects themselves are
  30. handled by separate groups, usually through IETF working groups, or
  31. through liaisons with international organizations such as TERENA's
  32. (Trans-European Research and Education Network Association)
  33. Information Services and User Support.
  34.  
  35. (1) Meet on a regular basis to consider projects designed to improve
  36.     services to users.  In general, projects should:
  37.  
  38.     - Clearly address user assistance needs;
  39.  
  40.     - Produce an end-result (e.g., a document, a program plan, etc.);
  41.  
  42.     - Have a reasonably clear approach to achieving the end-result
  43.          (with an estimated time for completion); and
  44.  
  45.     - Not duplicate existing or previous efforts.
  46.  
  47. (2) Create working groups or other focus groups to carry out projects
  48.     deemed worthy of pursuing.
  49.  
  50. (3) Provide a forum in which user services providers can discuss and
  51.     identify common concerns.
  52.  
  53. This is an active, on-going working group in the USV area of the IETF.
  54. It is the spawning ground for establishing other working groups in
  55. this area.
