  17. This is just my monthly message of how I do things here as moderator of
  18. this group, where to find various things, etc.

  20. Firstly, do not send comments about stories, archive updates, etc. to me.
  21. I just post the stuff.  Send them to the authors.  I don't forget
  22. frequently to put the author's address in the From: line, but should it
  23. happen, feel free to ask me who it is.  If a poster requests anonymity
  24. for whatever reason, email addresses will not be given out.  Period.
  25. Also, any posts containing comments/questions about stories, etc. will
  26. *not* get posted.  Check out the charter for the group for further
  27. details.

  29. Secondly, to get something posted to the group, just post like you
  30. normally would.  The message will get forwarded to me for actual posting.
  31. If you find your software having problems getting posts to me, go ahead  
  32. and send mail directly to me with the appropriate headers intact.

  34. When you do post, or if for some reason you have to send something to me,
  35. please include the headers below in the subject line.  This filters to a 
  36. separate mail folder of mine.  I get 200-300 work-related mail messages per 
  37. day, and don't want these getting lost in my self-imposed daily tedium.

  39. Posts with advertisements, announcements about conventioned, etc. will not
  40. be posted.  People don't want to archive the posts, therefore they don't
  41. get posted.  I'm not some sort of anti-commercial-internet-nazi (I work for
  42. UUNET for crying out loud 8-), it just doesn't belong here.  Try posting to
  43. ..announce or .misc.

  45. Forged postings will be cancelled, period.  I don't care if it was valid or
  46. not.  If you're not seeing something posted that should be.  Send me mail
  47. and find out what the scoop is that way.  If I or one of the backups didn't
  48. post it, expect it to go bye-bye.

  50. Headers:
  51.     The headers for posts will contain one of several prefixes to
  52. indicate the type of post.  They will be:
  53.  
  54.     ADMIN: administrative schtuff
  55.     BINARY: for uuencoded binaries of photos or executables of                 gaming-related subjects.
  56.     CHARACTER: for example characters
  57.     INTERVIEW: for interviews
  58.     LIST: miscellaneous list of neat stuff.
  59.     REFERENCE: for materials pertaining to other posts, such as story
  60.             indeces, FAQ's, etc.
  61.     RESOURCE: for game tools which are non system/genre specific.
  62.     REVIEW: reviews of publications.
  63.     STORY:  for stories.
  64.     SUPPLEMENT: for game rules or additions.
  65.  
  66. Other headers may be created, and I will explain them when this occurs.

  68. If an issue for a series, such as ADVENTURERS, for some reason does not
  69. get posted, please send me mail about it.  I do not read every series
  70. (other than to verify that it should be posted), and as such do not keep
  71. track of many of the issue numbers closely.  I will try to find out what
  72. happened, and get the non-posting corrected.

  74. I will no longer be posting the monthly archives list posting, due to the
  75. fact that it's no longer being maintained regularly.  I will keep it
  76. here, and if individuals would like copies, I will be happy to mail it to
  77. them.  I will be modifying the "Welcome to..." message with this
  78. information as well.  Just and FYI.  Greg Schmidt has mailed me a
  79. modified version of the lists, so if you have an old copy, you may want
  80. to get the new one.  Just send me email.

  82. I will make my best effort to get to posts at least once a day.  Occasionally,
  83. however, things here get hideously busy, and may not get to it once in a
  84. while.  Don't panic unless you don't see a posting for, say, 3-4 days.  8-)
  85. Weekend postings will also frequently not get posted until Monday morning.

  87. Feel free to send me mail with comments, criticisms, missed information,
  88. but please include the above-mentioned strings so I don't miss them.
