  73. G1   In order to deinstall the old BIGWIN driver (or to install the new 
  74.      one) the following (existing) files are to be deleted :
  75.                   V7*.*  
  76.                 SPEA*.* 
  77.                   S3*.*
  78.                 BIGW*.* 
  79.               V7START.DLL
  80.                [CAR1K.DRV] Block in the file SYSTEM.INI  
  81.      Important note:
  82.      Reset the system to Standard VGA (see Windows95-SystemControl-Display) 
  83.      and then start the installation from the SPEA CD. 
  84.      The installed board will be automatically identified and installed. 
  85.      Do not manually copy files from the CD to your hard disk or use any 
  86.      other method to install the hardware. This can have drastic 
  87.      consequences for your PC!
  88.  
  89. G2   For V7-Mirage, V7-Mirage P64 with the S3 Vision864 chip, V7-Mercury, 
  90.      V7-Mercury P64 please make sure that your AUTOEXEC.BAT calls the
  91.      VESA driver V7xxxVBE.EXE and that its path is correctly stated.
  92.     
  93.      V7-Mirage -> V7mirvbe.exe
  94.      V7-Mirage P64 / P32 -> V7mipvbe.exe
  95.      V7-Mercury -> V7mervbe.exe
  96.      V7-Mercury P64 -> v7mepvbe.exe

  98.      It is possible that you have used another graphics board in your
  99.      system and that this has not yet been removed from the registry.
  100.      Use the operating system programs (Device Manager) to check this
  101.      and ammend if necessary.
  102.  
  103. G3   Edit your SYSTEM.INI in the [CAR1K.DRV] section and change the line
  104.      CHIPSYNC=0 to CHIPSYNC=1.
  105.      Start an anti-virus program.
  106.  
  107. G4  Please make sure that you are using the drivers for Windows 95 and not
  108.     those for Windows 3.x and make shure that no other desktop program
  109.     (e.g. Norton Desktop) is active.
  110.     Your V7SETUP will show you the current driver correctly such as 
  111.     BIGWIN95 Version x.xx. If this is not the case -> G1.
  112.  
  113. G5  Microsoft recommends user to install the release version on a
  114.     clean system (i.e. not to install over a previous beta version).
  115.  
  116. G6  System Bios: Award Chipset Features... set option CACHE TIMING CONTROL
  117.     to NORMAL.
  118.  
  119. G100 The V7-VEGA VIDEO must have BIOS version 5.09 at least.
  120.      Owners of boards with older BIOS versions should proceed as follows:
  121.      During the system start, press the F8 key to open the boot menu and
  122.      select the input prompt option. Edit your AUTOEXEC.BAT and include
  123.      the line MODE CO80, then boot the system again.
  124.  
  125. G101 Drivers are only available for PCI versions of boards with a Weitek
  126.      processor (V7-STORM PRO). They are on the BBS.
  127.  
  128. G102 For those boards not fitted with an EEPROM (Mirage with Trio32/64,
  129.      Mirage P64V, Mercury P64V) reboot and start SPTUNE with the Explorer.
  130.      Use this program to configure your monitor. When you restart the 
  131.      system the modes will be available as 'user-defined' (scroll to see).
  132.      Note: V7HFREQ must be loaded via your AUTOEXEC.BAT with the option
  133.      /T.
  134.  
  135. G103 -Change the entry BASEADDRESS=0 to 1 or 2 in the [CAR1K.DRV] block of
  136.      your SYSTEM.INI file.
  137.      -Win95: Your Win95 directory contains a file "ShellIconCache" whose
  138.      short form is Shelli~1 (instead of 1 it is possible that 2,3,4... 
  139.      etc. may be shown). 
  140.      This is a hidden file (hidden attribute). Win95 uses this file to
  141.      remember the icon properties. Delete this file (back it up and remove
  142.      the hidden attribute first!)
  143.      Windows 95 will then display the icons correctly the next time.
  144.  
  145. G104 It is most likely that you have selected the wrong driver for your
  146.      board from the BBS or CD. Check and correct if necessary.
  147.  
  148. G105 Please use the CIRRUS LOGIC CL54xx drivers offered with Windows 95
  149.      or the SPEA Win3.11 driver supplied with the board.
  150.  
  151. G106 This function is implemented in version 2.10 of the V7-S3 driver.
  152.  
  153. G107 Right-click on the desktop, select Properties/Display and in the 
  154.      list 'Display element' select 'Symbol'. Change the value for the
  155.      size e.g. from 32 to 40. Then select Accept before changing back to
  156.      32 and exiting. The display will be correct until the resolution
  157.      is changed.
  158.      
  159. G108 If you use programs that access a modem under Windows then you
  160.      should change your SYSTEM.INI file's [CAR1K.DRV] block from
  161.      CHIPSYNC=0 to CHIPSYNC=1.
  162.  
  163. G109 Install the latest drivers (see CompuServe or Mailbox)!
  164.      First install the basic software (GDC) and then the Bigwin
  165.      driver for Windows 3.x (V7SETUP). Next, install the BigWin
  166.      driver for Windows95 (V7SETUP with rotating globe) over the
  167.      previous driver.
  168.      If the DOS box has been called then the camera button is
  169.      made inactive and the overlay window is no longer possible.
  170.      At present there is only one workaround: restart Win95 in order
  171.      to reactivate the camera button. A proper solution will be 
  172.      provided as soon as possible.
  173.  
  174. G110 Windows 95 doesn't support the Windows 3.1 DCI hardware 
  175.      acceleration. SPEA will be able to provide a driver update when
  176.      Microsoft releases the Direct Draw functionality for Windows 95
  177.      expected in 1996.
  178.  
  179. G111 With Mercury P64 V and Mirage P64 V boards this message only
  180.      appears when then hardware acceleration is activated. This function
  181.      is currently not supported by Windows 95 (see G110).
  182.      V7-ShowTime: the microcode driver hasn't been loaded when the
  183.      MediaStation is called:
  184.      a) Start STTEST under DOS first.
  185.      b) Configure (using V7SETUP) a higher refresh rate than the basic
  186.         rate offered for the desired resolution. Then select a lower 
  187.         frequency in a further session.
  188. G112 Install the 'old' DOS drivers for the CD drive with the latest
  189.      MSCDEX driver from Win95.
  190.      Deactivate the 32-Bit access for the hard disk (test).
  191.  
  192. G114 Include the following line in the [CAD1K.DRV] block of your
  193.      SYSTEM.INI:
  194.      LOGOOFF=1
