  78. C1  AutoCAD is supported from version 11 upwards, whereby these drivers
  79.     originate from the chip manufacturer and are not supported by SPEA.
  80.     BigFocus by SPEA is available for ACAD 12 and 13 in DOS and Windows
  81.     versions.
  82.  
  83. C2  No, BigFocus works with 256 colours or more; at 1280x1024 the
  84.     Mirage board can only offer 16 colors and thus the driver will not
  85.     function.
  86.  
  87. C3  Yes, use one of the dualscreen bundles. Please ask your dealer!
  88.  
  89. C4  Edit the file DDVPOINT.DCL and set line 64 from 14 to
  90.     height = 8;
  91.  
  92. C5  1.- ACAD constantly swaps to the harddisk: get more RAM!
  93.     2.- Install HIMEM.SYS in the CONFIG.SYS.
  94.     3.- Set DEMANDLOAD to OFF using CFIGPHAR.EXE.

  96. C6  Increase the value of VSCAN (e.g. to 80000) using the programm

  99. C7  There is no tutor in the BigFocus 12 for Windows!

  104. C10 Storm Pro only: edit P9X00RES.DAT file (located in C:\SPEA\GDC):
  105.     Change Bustype entry = DETECT to VESA or PCI as required.
  106.     If you experience problems with Windows please check your SYSTEM.INI
  107.     for the section [p9100.drv] and check the entry mentioned above.

  109.     All boards: use EMM386 version 4.49 and SPTUNE from version 2.05!

  111. C11 Set system variables for ACAD \SPEA\GDC\RCSETUP.BAT):
  112.     SET SWAPBOARDS = OFF

  115. C12 Use the command #logo_off to deactivate BigFocus and configure the
  116.     digitizing tablet. Reactivate BigFocus thereafter by entering
  117.     #logo_on.

  119. C13 Make sure that older/incorrect drivers (possibly Mirage) are installed
  120.     or were installed. Mercury: use SPTUNE from version 2.16!!!

  139. C15 2x Mercury P-64 (PCI or VL, SyncFix or DOS/WIN):
  140.     VL: install a board with jumpers in the default position (see
  141.     manual) in a master slot. The second board's jumpers should be
  142.     set to deactivate the BIOS (-> manual) before it is installed
  143.     in another slot. The bus clock should not be over 33mhz! Values
  144.     such as 50mhz, 75mhz and over are main candidates for trouble. 
  145.     A clock rate of 66Mhz however, is mostly OK.
  146.  
  147.     PCI: install both boards in a free slot. Determine the boot board by
  148.     trial and error. Some motherboard's documentation will be able to tell
  149.     you which slot will be booted on. If the PC won't boot: obtain new 
  150.     BIOS for the motherboard, or other (more up-to-date) motherboard.
  151.     Compaq for example provides a bugfix for their 90mhz DESKPRO XL90
  152.     PC's.
  153.  
  154.     If you are using a fixed-frequency monitor, connect it to the secondary
  155.     board.
  156.  
  157.     DOS version: MS DOS > 5.0. Do not use Novell DOS etc. Make sure 
  158.     you have EMM386 4.49 or higher (see above).
  159.  
  160.     Installing the software: please read the manual! First install the
  161.     Mercury P-64 and run SPTUNE. Then install the software from the
  162.     DualScreen disk and run SPDUAL.
  163.     If SPTUNE hangs: place a REM before the EMM386 line of your CONFIG.SYS
  164.     and restart the PC. Then run SPTUNE directly from the SPEA\GDC
  165.     directory. If QEMM is used, proceed in a similar fashion.
  166.     If SPTUNE runs OK, then run SPDUAL!
  167.     For both programs: set the horizontal frequency of your monitors,
  168.     call the test image, save the changes and exit the program.
  169.     Both programs should be version 2.16 or higher (shown in the
  170.     header when the program is loaded.
  171.     If the REM command was necessary:
  172.     If you were using EMM386, download version 4.49 from our BBS or from
  173.     Microsoft. Copy the new version into your DOS directory and set the
  174.     necessary entry in your CONFIG.SYS as follows:
  175.     DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386 NOEMS X=C000-C7FF 
  176.     Do not use the HISCAN parameter in this line!
  177.     If using QEMM then delete any ST parameters used.
  178.  
  179.     Windows installation with DoubleWin:
  180.     If both monitors are multisync types, connect the one with the higher
  181.     resolution to the boot card. Else -> Windows with SyncFix.
  182.  
  183.     Install Windows in VGA resolution. If Windows is already installed,
  184.     change to the Windows directory and call SETUP. Select the VGA option
  185.     for the display. Start Windows. Put the DoubleWin disk in your drive
  186.     (NOT the BigWin disk). Select the options File and then Run in the
  187.     Program Manager. Enter the following command in the dialogue box
  188.     that appears:
  189.     A:\V7SETUP
  190.     In the dialogue box: activate both boards and select the resolution
  191.     accordingly before confirming your changes with OK. Restart Windows
  192.     to finish the procedure.
  193.  
  194.     Windows installation with SyncFix:
  195.     Connect the fixed-frequency monitor to the secondary board and install
  196.     Windows as described above for DoubleWin. Difference: use the Windows
  197.     disk of the SyncFix package, and don't look for the extended part of
  198.     the V7SETUP dialogue box!
  199.     Note: until now, the dualscreen installation for SyncFix and 
  200.     DoubleScreen DOS/Win has been identical. If, when using the DoubleWin
  201.     driver, the secondary card is activated, you may only use one software
  202.     system: DOS/WIN. A fixed-frequency monitor however, must be connected
  203.     to a secondary board, because it can not display the VGA image when
  204.     the system is booted.
  205.  
  206.     AutoCAD under Windows:
  207.     Any problems that occur here have nothing to do with the dualscreen
  208.     configuration. Once Windows is up and running, BigFocus (just as 
  209.     AutoCAD's own driver) doesn't care whether Windows is running on
  210.     one or two screens.
  211.  
  212.     AutoCAD under DOS:
  213.     The installation of BigFocus is started after the DOS installation. 
  214.     BigFocus for the S3 boards serves BOTH Mercury boards!
  215.     Therefore: put the BigFocus disk in the drive and call Install. This
  216.     causes the following entry to be made in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file:
  217.     SET SPEAPOP=C:\SPEA\GDC\POPS. In addition, the file RCSETUP.BAT is
  218.     created in your GDC directory, and the call C:\SPEA\GDC\RCSETUP is
  219.     made in your AUTOEXEC.BAT. Until this point the installation for
  220.     single and dualscreen configurations is identical.
  221.     Next two environment variables are set: DUALSCREEN and SWAPBOARDS.
  222.     This can cause problems if you haven't reserved enough space for
  223.     environment variables. Before you start ACAD first enter SET and
  224.     check that all the environment variables are correctly set. If 
  225.     something is missing, check the following line in your CONFIG.SYS
  226.     file:
  227.     SHELL=C:\COMMAND.COM /E:2512 /p /f
  228.     The value for /E: is the size of the space reserved for environment
  229.     variables (2512 should always be enough!).
  230.     How should the two additional variables be set?
  231.     SPEA dualscreen: (the ACAD secondary monitor runs in graphics mode)
  232.     DUALSCREEN=ON
  233.     SWAPBOARDS=OFF Drawing on the secondary board, ACAD secondary monitor
  234.     on the primary board. Please set up this way for SyncFix!
  235.     SWAPBOARDS=ON The alternative for two 'unequal' monitors when
  236.     DoubleWin too is running on the same PC. Why? Because the larger
  237.     of the two monitors determines the maximal resolution for
  238.     DoubleWin. This is not possible for SyncFix!
  239.  
  240.     'Classical' ACAD dualscreen solution: (ACAD secondary monitor always
  241.     displays DOS messages)
  242.     DUALSCREEN=OFF
  243.     SWAPBOARDS=OFF This setting is theoretically possible, however it
  244.     doesn't fully exploit BigFocus. THIS IS NOT THE CASE FOR SYNCFIX!
  245.     Normally, the environment variables are set in RCSETUP.BAT. It
  246.     is of course possible to simply include these two lines in your
  247.     AUTOEXEC.BAT, or in your ACAD.BAT. Warning! When you update your
  248.     BigFocus software, a new RCSETUP.BAT will be created and it will
  249.     then depend on the calling order of the batchfiles how the 
  250.     environment variables are set! Please always check the variables'
  251.     status with SET before you start ACAD.
  252.  
  253.     ACAD Configuration:
  254.     BigFocus is already installed. ACAD now has to be informed that
  255.     it should be used. Start AutoCAD with ACAD -r. Select item 3 in the 
  256.     configuration menu (Display configuration), and then select the
  257.     SPEA S3 ADI.2 ... option.
  258.     Leave the configuration menu. When you first install BigFocus you
  259.     will be prompted for the resolution required. Select a suitable
  260.     option from the list shown (the vertical frequencies are determined
  261.     by the previous SPTUNE/SPDUAL software).
  262.     The resolution of the subordinate monitor is determined via #speaconfig
  263.     and the SPEACONFIG dialogue box.
  264.  
  265.     Watch out! Even after your installation has been correctly completed,
  266.     the secondary monitor remains dark! Use the F2 key to test whether the
  267.     cursor is moved to the secondary monitor.
  268.  
  269. C16 Storm Pro + Mirage P-64
  270.  
  271.     VL: install the Storm Pro with jumpers in the default position (see
  272.     manual) in a master slot. The Mirage P-64 jumpers should be
  273.     set to deactivate the BIOS (-> manual) before it is installed
  274.     in another slot. The bus clock should not be over 33mhz! Values
  275.     such as 50mhz, 75mhz and over are main candidates for trouble. 
  276.     A clock rate of 66Mhz however, is mostly OK.
  277.  
  278.     PCI: install both boards in a free slot. Determine the boot board by
  279.     trial and error. If the PC boots on the Mirage P-64, swap the boards.
  280.     The Storm Pro must be the boot board!
  281.  
  282.     Monitors: the larger monitor must be connected to the Storm Pro. It
  283.     must be a multisync monitor! A fixed-frequency monitor is permissible
  284.     for the secondary board (Mirage P-64), because the boot display must
  285.     be capable of VGA resolution.
  286.  
  287.     DOS version: MS DOS > 5.0. Do not use Novell DOS etc. Make sure 
  288.     you have EMM386 4.49 or higher (see above).
  289.

  291.     software for the Storm Pro first, then run SPMODE. Then install the
  292.     DualScreen disk and run SPDUAL.

  295.     directory. If QEMM is used, proceed in a similar fashion.

  315.     and when this program is run, select a resolution, color depth
  316.     and vertical frequency as required. Confirm your changes with
  317.     OK, restart Windows. Finished!
  318.  
  319.     If your specific monitor is not available in the list provided for
  320.     the Storm Pro, select a similar one, without exceeding the limitations
  321.     of your device.
  322.  
  323.     AutoCAD under Windows:
  324.     See C15!
  325.  
  326.     AutoCAD under DOS:
  327.     The BigFocus installation is continued from the DOS software
  328.     installation. As two different processors are being used you must
  329.     load two ADI drivers for AutoCAD.
  330.     Put the BigFocus for the Storm Pro in your drive and call Install.
  331.     This routine will make the following entry in your AUTOEXEC.BAT:
  332.     SET SPEAPOP=C:\SPEA\GDC\POPS. It also puts the line
  333.     CALL C:\SPEA\GDC\RCSETUP in your AUTOEXEC.BAT. Until this point
  334.     the installation routine for single and dual screen configurations
  335.     are identical. What remains to be done is the installation for the
  336.     ADI driver for the Mirage P-64. Put the BigFocus disk in your drive
  337.     and call Install again. This time neither of the calls;
  338.     SET SPEAPOP=C:\SPEA\GDC\POPS and CALL C:\SPEA\GDC\RCSETUP will be
  339.     made in your AUTOEXEC.BAT as they already exist. However: the
  340.     RCSETUP.BAT file will be created again!
  341.  
  342.     An environment variable is now set: RCPADIT. 
  343.     This can cause problems if you haven't reserved enough space for
  344.     environment variables. Before you start ACAD first enter SET and
  345.     check that all the environment variables are correctly set. If 
  346.     something is missing, check the following line in your CONFIG.SYS
  347.     file:
  348.     SHELL=C:\COMMAND.COM /E:2512 /p /f
  349.     The value for /E: is the size of the space reserved for environment
  350.     variables (2512 should always be enough!).
  351.  
  352.     RCPADIT tells ACAD which driver it should handle as the secondary
  353.     driver. The lines are: 
  354.     SET RCPADIT=C:\ACADR12\DRV\RCS3V.EXP for ACAD12, and
  355.     SET RCPADIT=C:\ACADR13\DOS\DRV\RCS3V.EXP for ACAD13.
  356.  
  357.     SPEA Dualscreen: (the ACAD secondary screen operates in graphics mode)
  358.     Due to the use of two different processor the possibility to manipulate
  359.     the configuration using the DUALSCREEN and SWAPBOARDS variables is
  360.     not available (->C15). The hierarchy of main and secondary screen is
  361.     determined by the ACAD configuration and RCPADIT.
  362.  
  363.     'Classical' ACAD Dualscreen:
  364.     (the secondary screen always displays the DOS messages)
  365.     This configuration is NOT POSSIBLE with this dualscreen package
  366.     (at least not if you wish to draw on the Storm Pro screen ...).
  367.  
  368.     ACAD Configuration:
  369.     Both BigFocus files are already installed in the ACAD\DRV directory.
  370.     Next ACAD must be instructed to use them. The secondary driver (for
  371.     the secondary board) has already been determined by RCPADIT.
  372.  
  373.     Start AutoCAD with ACAD -r. Select item 3 (Display configuration) in
  374.     the configuration menu. Select the option SPEA P9100 3D ADI4.2 ...
  375.     there. End the program. When you run BigFocus for the first time
  376.     you will be prompted for the resolution. Select a mode from the
  377.     list offered (the vertical frequency has already been determined by
  378.     SPMODE/SPDUAL). The resolution of the secondary screen is determined
  379.     with #speaconfig and the dialogue box that this command opens.
  380.  
  381.     Watch out! Even after your installation has been correctly completed,
  382.     the secondary monitor remains dark! Use the F2 key to test whether the
  383.     cursor is moved to the secondary monitor.
  384.  
  385.     If ACAD displays an "illegal instruction ...." message when starting
  386.     the drawing editor (or if it crashes) then make sure that you're using
  387.     EMM386 v4.49 or higher.
  388.  
  389.     If ACAD for the Storm Pro still refuses to start:
  390.     Check the versions of RC91V.EXP and RCS3V.EXP and if neccessary
  391.     update them. The latest versions are:
  392.     RC91V.EXP 879KB 8.2.1995  and  RCS3V.EXP 943KB 8.2.1995
  393.  
  394. C17 Make sure that the latest driver is loaded. Include the following
  395.     line in your ACAD.BAT
  396.     SET BASEADDRESS=0 (<= 16MB RAM) or
  397.     SET BASEADDRESS=1 (<= 32MB)     or
  398.     SET BASEADDRESS=2 (<= 64MB)
  399.  
  400. C18 For BF13WIN 2.0:
  401.     DSBIGFOC.DLL is in the Windows task list: end the task. Remove
  402.     the entry after MenuName= in ACADNT.CFG in the Block [Display/Driver].
  403.     Start ACAD13 NT again. ACAD will prompt you to reconfigure the display
  404.     driver again. Select the option SPEA BigFocus again. ACAD13 NT hangs
  405.     again when restarted: repeat the entire procedure or download version
  406.     2.2 of BF13WIN from the SPEA Mailbox or CompuServe.
  407.     
  408. C19 Known bug of BigFocus 13Win v.2.1. Please use a newer version.
  409.  
  410. C20 Caused on some PC'S with a Triton chipset. Deactivate the PCI
  411.     Burst Mode in your PC's BIOS Setup.
