POISONING
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What to look for:
Name of the poison, and how much has been swallowed.
When the poison was swallowed.
Whether or not the victim has vomited.
Immediate Treatment:
1. Check and maintain an open airway, and if necessary, restore breathing
and circulation.
2. Call a Poison Control Center for instructions, and be prepared to give
specific information on the situation.
3. Emergency treatment consists of: diluting the poison with at 8 ounces
of water or milk, and getting the poison out of the victim by inducing
vomiting.
4. Keep the victim face down with the head lower than the rest of the body
so he will not choke.
Do NOT induce vomiting if the victim has swallowed a strong acid, an alkali,
a petroleum product, or you do not know what the victim has swallowed. Give
water, not milk with any of these products.
Never give liquids or induce vomiting if the victim is unconscious or having
convulsions. Seek medical attention immediately.
