BookWhere? 2000 makes research easy. It's ideal for scholars and students. It allows you to search library databases worldwide via your Internet connection. Just enter author, title, subject, etc. You can use Boolean operators if you wish. Sample queries to get you started are included, as well as lists of hosts and databases to search. Your search results can be saved, exported, and sorted. If you have problems reaching a host, a set of diagnostic tools lets you find out what the problem is. The BookWhere site has a list of database links; clicking on a link will open BookWhere (when it's installed on your machine) and opens a new session with the database already assigned.

FileBack PC is handy if you need to back up and synchronize critical files, but often forget to do it. This program does it for you automatically. It's easy to set up, and the program will copy your files while you work on something else. When you've created your first backup set, the program retreats to the system tray. If you want more control, you can manually run a backup. Other options include configuring the program to back up at system startup and shutdown, control the number of revisions of a file the program will save, and more.

2do is a popular task manager, and this version is an update which offers new features. 2do works with tasks. Each named task can be assigned a due date, time, and priority. You can categorise tasks, grouping them by types. Each task can be assigned a contact, and will even ring an alarm when it comes due. Using notes, you can add as much detail as you need to each task. You can view your tasks lists in various ways: To Do List, Calendar, Day Glance, and Week Planner.

This DOS program is amazing: it gives you a complete Windows look and feel, but only requires DOS 3.3. Documents Database combines word processing with document management, and is ideal for any home or office environment, especially if you're running an older machine. You can create letters, faxes, memoes etc in the word processor, using the 120,000-word spell-checker, including graphics in your documents if you wish. If you want to export documents, they're exported either as ASCII, or Rich Text Format, which leaves all your formatting intact. You can group your documents in any way that makes sense to you. Finding documents couldn't be easier, you can use sophisticated search criteria to find the documents which match those specifications.
