Microsoft Draw 97
URL: http://www.microsoft.com/OfficeFreeStuff/
Requirements: Microsoft Office 97

Microsoft Draw 97 is an ActiveX component that uses the same OfficeArt drawing tools in Office 97. Even when you are using any other OLE-compliant application, Microsoft Draw 97 lets you create 3-D text effects, diagrams and more with its OfficeArt drawing tools. Microsoft Draw 97 replaces Word's built-in picture editor with a more natural user interface. It helps Word users make diagrams by providing the connector tools that Word lacks, and makes exporting Office Art graphics to HTML easier.

Once installed, you can run Draw 97 by choosing Microsoft Draw 97 Drawing from the Insert (OLE) Object dialog box in any application. Word 97 has a special command for running Draw 97 in the Format, Picture, New Drawing menu.

This powerful utility pack creates a cascading menu in Excel, with tools branching off the following sub-menus: Range, Formatting, Worksheet, Workbook, Chart, Printing, Date & Time, and Object tools.

Word 6.0/95 Converter for Word 97
URL: http://www.microsoft.com/officefreestuff/
Requirements: Microsoft Office 97

Are you having trouble sharing your Word 97 files with Word 6.0 or 95 users? Perhaps you may have noticed that applications such as FrontPage or WordPerfect can't convert your Word files. Amazingly, the original Word 6.0/95 converter that shipped with Office 97 was less than perfect -- in fact, it saved Word 97 documents only as Rich Text Format (RTF) only. This new Word 6.0/95 converter saves Word 97 documents in a true binary file format with a .doc extension, solving the worst of the conversion problems. Don't expect perfection, though. Word 97 has extra features that aren't supported in Word 6.0/95, so some Word 97 formatting can't be converted. See http://www.microsoft.com/officefreestuff/word/dlpages/wrd6ex32.htm for details.
