iavaZIP gives you the power to zip files from anywhere on your hard drives or network in one session.
Example: You are starting a new ZIP session and you would like to import the following folders and files into your zip file:
you would like to zip:
the complete drive C:
from drive D: the folder "BACKUP"
from folder "BACKWEB" you need the file "iavazip.zip"
from folder "Java" you include the subfolders "JDK112" and "TREE"
at least you include the folder "TEMP".
All you have to do now is to press the import button and iavaZIP will import all selected files into your archive. Of course, this feature is available too, when you are going to extract archives. iavaZIP will present all contents of a zip file (tar, gz, tar.gz, jar are supported too) in it's tree structure, which enables you to extract from ANYWHERE.
You can import files to an existing archive you've opened or to a new archive
you've created. To do so, press the "Import"-button from iavaZIP's Toolbar. This will open the import files dialog box.
In the Import dialog box you can select the files, you wish to import to the archive.
You can create a list of files by selecting them in the Tree structure part of
the "Import" dialog box.
Find below the list of options, which are available to you, for importing your files to your archive.
Import options:
Recurse Subfolders check box determines whether iavaZIP recursively
traverses all folders underneath the specified folders when looking for files to import.
Save Extra Folder Info lets iavaZIP store any folder path information
specified in the "Import" Files edit field.
Strip filenames lets iavaZIP store any folder path information
specified in the "Import" Files edit field.
Freshen Archive from the ACTION list box causes iavaZIP to update
files already in the archive that match the specified files.
Move from the ACTION list box moves the open archive to another folder or disk.
The Move option works the same as Add, except that once the specified files have been successfully
added to the archive they are deleted from your hard drives.
Update from the ACTION list box is the same as Freshen Archive, but adds any
specified files that are not already in the archive.
Deflated from the METHOD list box makes sure that your files will be compressed.
Stored from the METHOD list box disables any compression. Compression levels will
take no effect.
Compression levels from the COMPRESSION list box determines the compression method.
Faster compression options usually result in larger archives. Maximum compression will take most time.
Once you are done making your file selection, click to the
"Import" button to import the files into the archive. Once iavaZIP finishes the process, it will update
the file list in the Tree window to reflect the new files in the archive.
