Securely store your private information with Microsoft Wallet

Microsoft Wallet is the place within Internet Explorer 4.0 where you can securely store all of your private information, including credit card numbers, ATM card information, digital certificates, and more. You decide what to put in Microsoft Wallet, where on your system to store it, who gets to see it, and who gets to use it. Once you've entered information into Microsoft Wallet, youÆll never have to retype it again.

By providing a ready-made tool for payment, Microsoft Wallet paves the way for you to conduct electronic commerce efficiently. And because it was designed with an open, extensible architecture, Microsoft Wallet is a solution you can continue to use into the future. As new payment methods and other ID information gain acceptance on the Internet, Microsoft Wallet will be extended to support them. Microsoft Wallet provides the following benefits:

  • Security. Your information is stored securely on your computer. No one can access it without your permission.
  • Complete control. You decide what information to put in your wallet and then who can access it.
  • Machine- and application-independent. You can take Microsoft Wallet with you to any computer (home, office, etc.) and control which applications can see its contents.
  • Universal. All your favorite sites will support Microsoft Wallet.
  • Easy to use. Using Microsoft Wallet means you don't need to remember a lot of passwords or keep re-entering information whenever you conduct a transaction.
  • Extensible. The Wallet is designed for the future and can be extended to support additional payment methods, such as Internet cash, as well as other credentials and confidential information, such as electronic drivers licenses, coupons, and receipts.
