Start menu and Taskbar get Web savvy!

The Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 Platform Preview brings a ton of new functionality to the Start menu and Taskbar—plus you're free to add even more! Find a file, a favorite, even people from the Start menu. Do an Internet search, check your Favorites, or type a URL in the Run dialog box.

Start Menu Changes

Want quick access to a program, favorite site, or file? Just drag and drop it onto the Start button or Taskbar. Organize your favorites, Programs, or Start menu by dragging and dropping within the Start Menu. Want to see the desktop without closing or minimizing windows? Just click the Desktop button on the Taskbar and you're there!

How does it work?

  • Web tasks are a breeze with Favorites, Find, and the Run command.
  • Customizing Start is as easy as dragging and dropping items to the button or between menus within the Start menu.
  • Working with the Taskbar gives you access to your hard drive, Internet, or intranet, plus additional functionality.
