![]() ![]() ![]() NetShow: Broadcasting comes to the desktop!
The Internet really comes alive with Microsoft NetShow, which lets Web surfers see and hear either live or recorded broadcasts without having to wait for downloads or slowing down network performance. People who use Internet Explorer 4.0 will have the best seat in the house for viewing NetShow content, which is enabled by ActiveX controls. People who want to broadcast NetShow presentations also benefit, because the content is easy to create and deliver using HTML. And people who run corporate networks will also be happy, because they finally get a low-bandwidth tool for delivering the power of multimedia to employees and customers. While the possibilities for using Microsoft NetShow are endless, two areas stand out:

(Note: You won't see the the Lovers' Leap demo above this paragraph or be able to check out other demos on this page if you chose not to download the NetShow player when you opened this page. You can download the player later by simply leaving and returning to this page. If you are viewing these pages behind an unsupported corporate firewall, you will not be able to view these NetShow demos.) The following illustrated audio samples were created using Microsoft NetShow to communicate ideas and concepts to large groups of people:
Check out the NetShow Web site for full details on this Internet broadcasting tool, which complements NetMeeting as Internet Explorer 4.0Æs two main delivery systems for multimedia communication: NetShow for efficiently delivering content from one source to many on the Internet or an intranet; and NetMeeting for person-to-person and group interactive sessions.
