Venation

VENATION is a natural pattern that looks like the veins on a leaf.

How Does It Work?

Use the Density parameter to control the number of veins used to create the texture. The density changes at discrete points (10.5, 20.5, 30.5, 40.5, 50.5, 60.5, 70.5, 80.5, 90.5, and 100).  Use Vein_Width to control the width of the veins.  A Vein_Width of 0% will eliminate a vein, leaving just the Background.  A Vein_Width of 100% is maximum, but there will still be some background showing.

Hints!

Invert this texture to make cracks (dark Veins on a light Background). Use Vein_Width to control the placement and size of the cracks (a Vein_Width of 0% will eliminate the cracks).

Use a mild Deform component on this texture to round out the sharp edges on the veins. Try a strong Warp applied to Venation to get a caustic look.

Common Parameters

Input Seed

The seed for the random number generator that is used to create the texture.

Roughness

The roughness or detail level of the pattern.

Lacunarity

The relative scale of the fractal layers of veins.

Lacunarity Lock

When enabled, locks the size of the top fractal layer while adjusting Lacunarity.

Density

The number of veins in a given area.

Vein Width

The width of the veins.

Brightness

The brightness level of the pattern. Higher values move the color toward Veins.

Contrast

The contrast or sharpness between the Background and Veins.

Strata Function

Blending control applied the the fractal layers of the pattern.

Blend Function

Blending control between Background and Veins

Color Component Parameters

Background

The background color value.

Veins

The vein color value.

Percent Component Parameters

Background

The background percent value.

Veins

The vein percent value.

Bump Component Parameters

Background

The background bump elevation.

Veins

The vein bump elevation.

Bump Scale

A scaling factor for the bump values.
