Bump Scale

Nearly all bump components in DarkTree have a Bump Scale parameter.  Bump Scale is a factor that is multiplied with the bump elevation of the given component.  The result is an easy way to scale the entire bump pattern at once.  Values less than one will scale down the bump while values greater than one will make the bump more extreme. A value of zero will get rid of the bump all together. You can even set Bump Scale to negative values which will invert the bump pattern.  Generally, you will want to keep Bump Scale to the minimum value possible that gives you the effect you want.  Large Bump Scale values will introduce highly contrasted shading which won't look realistic.

You can even link the Bump Scale to other components to get varuable scale over the surface. A number of "growth" effects can be created by animating the Bump Scale. Figure1 shows a gradient linked to the Bump Scale of Clouds.
