How Does It Work? This component blends a texture with itself to make a looping animation. The animation is based on translating through the texture space. The Time parameter should be linked to a Time component. As this parameter changes from 0% to 100%, the texture animates. The X Amount, Y Amount, and Z Amount parameters control how much the texture will move along each axis as it animates. The Distortion parameter distorts the movement of the texture. A smooth gradient or noise works best here. The Simple parameter selects a simpler and faster blend method. In most cases, Simple is better but it depends on the texture your animating and the effect you want. Experiment with both. Hints! This component works fine without the Distortion connected, but Distortion can really add to the effect. Try a low density Birdshot for a raindrop effect or try Plasma for a liquid effect. If you are using large Amount values, you may have to reduce the Distortion to excessive warping of the texture. For 3D textures, using only the Z Amount for movement works best. For 2D textures, a mix of X and Y Amounts works best. Use this with any of the Tiling components to get a animated looping tiling texture. |
