A gender tax to pay for male crime
From an unidentified press cutting sent to the Institute.
Jane Stephenson, in her book Men Are Not Cost-Effective, argues that men are more socially disruptive through their violence and crime than women and should therefore pay an annual gender tax of US$100.
Editorial comment
This idea faces insuperable difficulties. The politically correct may still feel it is permissible to discriminate against males, but would they feel so politically correct if this gender tax were extended in the directions to which it points, such as a higher tax for black people, because of the higher crime rate of their youth?
