How best can married men be discouraged from having affairs? How is a woman to recognise whether a man is married or not?
One speaker at a women's conference in London suggested that the best approach would be to abolish the wedding ring. 'After all, what do the men do with it?' she asked. 'They put it away in a bedside drawer or in their jacket pocket, claiming that the ring is too narrow, too large or that it disturbs them in their work. I propose therefore that the marriage ring should be replaced by a tattoo on the ring finger.'
The suggestion was greeted with great enthusiasm by the conference participants.
