Funerals as networking events

Greg Wright

Adapted from a submission to The Natural Death Centre.

A true tribute to a newly deceased person would be to hold a funeral or wake which is a 'networking event' - a deliberately orchestrated bringing together of friends and associates of the deceased who theretofore did not know or were only mildly acquainted with one another.

This would be particularly appropriate for dynamic, involved, creative, multifarious types who in life pursued a range of tasks and projects in different spheres of activity, different locations, and different 'communities' of other involved, productive persons and groups of persons.

The AIDS crisis and the many dynamic people who are dying before their time presents a special need and potential usefulness for 'networking funerals'.
