There are two views available through this window:
The primary (or default) view displays a stream of data received through the port. When you first open a port this view is blank. If you choose to send and/or receive test data, the primary view for the port windows displays the alphabet in a sawtooth pattern (incrementing by one letter for each line of data received until it reaches the letter Z and then it repeats until you stop the test). When sending and receiving test data the primary view for the port window is constantly active. (See CPU Utilization for more information on sending and receiving test data.)
The secondary view displays a report showing the status of the port since the port was first opened. The secondary view for the port window is periodically updated.
Use the 
button to toggle between the two views.
Click the button in the toolbar for the desired port
window. If you want to see reports for all port windows, click the button in the toolbar on the WCom2
Test Terminal window.
The report is updated every 2 seconds and includes the following items:
Total time - Displays the total time the port is active while the port is open.
Total time sending - Displays the total time the port is sending data.
Total time receiving - Displays the total time the port is receiving data.
Total Bytes Transferred - Displays the total number of bytes transferred.
Total Bytes Received - Displays the total number of bytes received.
Total Errors - Displays the total number of errors, including parity errors, framing errors, and overrun errors.
Total Parity Errors - Displays the total number of parity errors. A parity error is an error discovered by inclusion of a parity bit. A parity bit is an extra bit added to a byte or word to reveal errors in storage or transmission.
Framing Errors - Displays the total number of framing errors. A framing error is the result of reading a string of symbols that are grouped in blocks starting at the wrong point. Framing errors can be detected with parity bits.
Overrun Errors - Displays the total number of overrun errors. An overrun error is a condition in which data is lost because the receiving device is not able to accept the data at the rate it is transmitted.
