There is a hoax email in circulation on the Internet concerning a ficticious Microsoft Year 2000 Counter. This mail uses the Support@microsoft.com as their FROM: alias. There is no such software from Microsoft and if you receive this mail you should NOT open it but delete it immediately. More Information

As part of MicrosoftÆs ongoing Year 2000 compliance testing, Microsoft has identified minor Y2K issues within Windows 98 and is making a Windows 98 Year 2000 Update available immediately that customers can download or order on CD. While the minor issues in Windows 98 can result in the incorrect display of Year 2000 dates, they pose no risk of data loss. In fact, most consumers would never run into these issues in their normal daily use of the computer. More
