General Tips

See Knowledge Base article, "Determining Which Version of Internet Explorer You Are Using" for help identifying the version installed on your computer.

To view four-digit years, set the date formats in Control Panel Regional Settings to display four-digit years.

Web page HTML content, JSCRIPT, Java applets, server scripts, or controls may have year 2000 issues that are independent of the ability of Internet Explorer to handle dates.

Internet Explorer 5.0 - 32-Bit Windows

Recommendation: Install the Windows 98 Year 2000 Update.

If you use Windows NT Workstation 4.0, install the Windows NT 4.0 Post Service Pack 4 (SP4) Year 2000 Update. To request an update on CD-ROM call 888-673-8925 toll free.

Date handling: With the update, programs display the proper date after 01/01/2000. See Knowledge Base article "MFC40.DLL Causes Programs to Display Wrong Date after 01/01/2000" for details.

Two-digit years 00 through 79 are interpreted as 2000 through 2079 and shortcuts 80 through 99 are interpreted as 1980 through 1999.

Internet Explorer (Macintosh) 4.5

Recommendation: No action necessary.

Date handling: Two-digit years 00 - 49 are interpreted as 2000 through 2049 and 50 - 99 are interpreted as 1950 through 1999.
