Over 370 guests at the Club Med in Sainte-Anne, Martinique, were briefly pawns in a pitched battle last week between the club's staff, on strike for higher wages, and local police. After the strike failed to bring a raise in pay, workers locked the guests in the club. The cops stormed the club, injuring a handful of strikers but sparing the guests, who said the strikers had treated them well enough - they kept the pool open.
