Playing Media from a Computer or Drive Location

Media is typically played from the Media Library tab, but can also be played from a folder on the computer or a network drive. Links to these media files can be added to the Media Library for easy access.

SIREN cannot play secured .wma files from a network drive, but can play and copy .wav, .mp3, and unsecured .wma files from a network.

What do you want to do?

Play media from the computer or a network drive

  1. Click the Explore Files tab in the Media Manager panel to display all drives and folders.

  2. Locate and select the song or video clip you want to play.

  3. Click the Play button in the Play Controller panel. SIREN plays all media in the folder.

Playback can also be initiated by double-clicking on a song or video file.

Add media from the computer or a network drive to the Media Library

Perform one of the following:

If links to songs or video clips on a network drive are added to the Media Library, they are only available when the computer is connected to the network. Attempting to play media from a network when the computer is disconnected will result in an error message. However, the situation can be avoided by simply creating a filter and allowing only media files with an appropriate file path (typically C:) to be played.
