If you have no hard disk drive and your only floppy diskette drives are
double-density 5.25" drives (for 360KB diskettes), you can still use VICTOR
by running it from two floppy drives. Using the program VICCOPY on this
source diskette, you will put all VICTOR programs and data on one blank
diskette except for the largest data file; it will be on a second blank
diskette. As you use the program VICCOPY, you will be instructed to remove
the first blank diskette from the target drive and replace it with the second
blank diskette. Then, each time you use VICTOR, it will assume it can find
its low-altitude data files on drive B (to change this to a drive other than
B, you can edit the file VICTOR.DEF, found on one of your working diskettes,
changing the line which reads LODRIV=B: to match your setup).
As VICCOPY runs, it will allow you to confirm that it has created and copied
the VICTOR working files to your target drive. When VICCOPY ends, remove and
save this source diskette.
Then, to run the VICTOR program, log into your target drive and type VICTOR
at the DOS prompt. Further instructions are available from within VICTOR
once it starts. If there is room you may also copy the documentation file
VIC-INFO.DOC and the text file viewer VU.COM from this source diskette to
your working diskette or subdirectory.
