BRIEF SUMMARY OF EVENTS
-----------------------
Solar activity was moderate today. Region 6919 (S13E36) produced an
M1.1/SF flare at 19:55 UT. This region remained structurally stable
throughout the day. It is expected to continue to generate minor M-class
flares with a slight risk for an additional isolated major event over the
next 72 hours.
Region 6906 (S17W93) crossed the west limb in a quiet, stable
configuration. An isolated M-class event may yet originate from this region
behind the west limb.
Region 6921 (N08E13) showed steady growth today, but was relatively
flare-quiet. Only a single minor subflare was observed from this region.
New Region 6923 (S15W17) was the only region numbered today.
Geomagnetic activity was mostly quiet to unsettled today. Near 18:00 UT
a disturbance arrived which produced magnetopause crossings on the GOES-6 and
GOES-7 spacecraft near 19:00 UT for approximately one hour. Conditions then
began to stabilize. No significant storming was observed at ground-based
magnetic observatories, although conditions became active for several hours
following the arrival of the disturbance. Conditions appear to have
stabilized now. This disturbance may have been generated by the X1.1/1B flare
of 09 November. Conditions should remain unsettled to active over the next 24
hours, becoming quiet to unsettled by 13 November.
HF propagation conditions were near normal over most regions today.
Southern hemisphere stations continue to report sporadically disturbed
conditions. Overall global propagation conditions should continue to
stabilize on 12 and 13 November, barring further major solar flares from
Region 6919.
