!!END-DATA!!
BRIEF SUMMARY OF EVENTS
-----------------------
Solar activity was moderate today by virtue of a class M1.1 xray event
at 22:10 UT. One of the most notable areas of impressive activity was on the
northeast limb near the 24th solar latitude. Two eruptive loop systems and a
limb spray event were observed. The eruptive prominences were observed at
11:50 UT and 23:46 UT on 04 November. The limb spray was observed at 15:47
UT on 05 November. These may be precursors to another possibly potent
region. Sprays are most often associated with the larger solar regions. The
region responsible is expected to rotate into view over the next several
days.
Region 6906 (S16W16) has shown considerable penumbral growth over the
last 24 hours. It has, thus far, only been associated with minor C-class
events.
Several new regions were numbered today. These include: Region 6913
(S32W18), 6914 (S17W05), 6915 (N16E64) and 6916 (S23E66).
Solar activity should remain low to moderate. Although the region
responsible for the northeast limb activity has not become visible yet, there
is a slight risk for an unexpected major event from the region responsible.
The geomagnetic field has been at unsettled to minor storm levels over
the last 24 hours. A sudden magnetic impulse at 01:24 UT on 05 November was
associated with a few brief periods of minor storming. The remainder of the
day was mostly unsettled. Conditions should remain mostly unsettled over the
next 24 to 48 hours. Thereafter, we should begin entering the quieter space
environment which should drop activity levels down to quiet or slightly
unsettled levels.
HF propagation conditions have been near normal over most middle and low
latitude regions. Noise levels remain above normal and signal strengths are
still somewhat depressed, although conditions over most regions are gradually
improving. Improvements should continue to be observed. A slight risk for
brief daytime fadeouts associated with possible minor solar flares exists.
