!!END-DATA!!
BRIEF SUMMARY OF EVENTS
-----------------------
Solar activity became moderate today. Two M-class x-ray events were
observed during the day. The first event was an optically uncorrelated class
M2.9 event at 10:08 UT. The second was a class M1.1 at 22:19 UT. There is
some evidence to suggest that these events may have originated beyond the
east limb. Although this is not certain, it would indicate a new active
region that may be about to rotate into view around the east limb.
Region 6873 (S24E22) has experienced some fragmentation of its penumbra
over the last 24 hours, but is still moderately complex particularly in the
southern portion of the group where new flux emergence may be beginning to
form a delta configuration. This region is still capable of producing an
isolated M-class event.
Region 6871 (S12E09) stabilized today and has slowed in growth.
Subflares are continuing to be observed in this region.
Geomagnetic and auroral activity have been quiet over all regions today.
Activity is expected to continue quiet over the next 72 hours.
HF propagation conditions were normal to above normal over many regions
today. Conditions should continue to be favorable for stable HF propagation
conditions. Polar and some high latitude paths may experience slightly
elevated levels of absorption. The background flux of low energy protons
increased slightly today which may have had a minor bearing on high and polar
latitude signal paths. This trend may continue over the next 24 hours, but
is not expected to last very long.
